Northern Ireland weather: Warmest day of the year so far as temperatures rise

Police in Northern Ireland have jokingly warned that you could be arrested for wearing socks and sandals today - as temperatures are expected to reach 26 degrees in parts.

The Met Office has said hot sunshine will develop across the day in all parts of Northern Ireland.

Thursday has been the warmest day of the year so far.

It will remain hot inland on Thursday with a cool cool breeze at times and some mist creeping in.

Thursday night will be very mild and muggy.

And the sunshine is set to continue into Friday as temperatures will be in the mid 20s.

The weekend is expected to have a dry start but soon heavy thundery showers will come in.

Sunday and Monday will bring back the dry weather with sunny spells.
