Nurse found drugs hidden in Antrim man's buttocks during trip to hospital
A court has heard a County Antrim man was twice discovered to be in possession of illegal drugs when he was in hospital and on one of the occasions a nurse detected illegal substances hidden between the defendant's buttocks.
John Kenneth Shields (24), of Condiere Terrace in the village of Connor near Ballymena, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He was given a three months jail term, suspended for a year; in connection with two charges of possessing Class A methadone and a Class C drug called 'GHB'.
The offences occurred in December 2016 and March this year.
A defence lawyer said the drugs were for Shields' own use and the defendant is currently working with the Community Addictions team.
