Nurse who mistreated patients is struck off
A nurse who left an elderly patient in a soiled bed wearing nothing but a ripped nightgown has been struck off.
Olaide Idowu (42) was also found to have moved two residents without a hoist and called her boss a “wicked bitch” over the phone after she reported her to the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Idowu — who was working at the Mountvale Private Nursing Home in Dromore, Co Down, when the offences were committed — also failed to tell bosses that she had been subject to an interim order limiting her practice after allegations were made at a previous workplace.
Yesterday, the NMC ruled Idowu was guilty of misconduct.
Idowu, of Northampton, did not attend her central London hearing and made no admissions to any of the charges.
Panel chairman Paul Archer said the only appropriate sanction available was for Idowu to be struck off.
He said: “In the panel’s view, the standing of the professions would be seriously undermined if such an order were not made.
“This order is made for patient protection and to maintain the reputation of the professions.”
