OAP ends action over Queen's flats deal
A pensioner has ended High Court proceedings against Queen's University in connection with a £2m property deal.
Lawyers for Daniel McConkey said a resolution had been reached in his bid to judicially review an arrangement which led to him leaving his south Belfast home.
No details of any settlement were disclosed in court yesterday.
The challenge brought by Mr McConkey, who is in his 70s, was linked to the purchase by Queen's of close to 100 properties from Malone Housing Association around 10 years ago.
Secure tenancy agreements had been in place for those living in the flats near the university.
However, Mr McConkey alleged he was misinformed when he signed up to a new one-year arrangement.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by the university.
Mr McConkey is now understood to have quit his Fitzwilliam Street home and moved to alternative accommodation.
