The best of summer wildlife at Balloo wetland
The Ulster Wildlife Trust is inviting everyone to Balloo Wetland Nature Reserve this Saturday, July 30, to find out more about this newly created oasis for wildlife just outside Bangor. The event is run in conjunction with North Down Borough Council.
The Best of Summer Wildlife at Balloo Wetland Nature Reserve event runs from 11am-1pm and offers the chance to uncover the fascinating wildlife on the reserve this summer, and also to find out more about the transformation of what once was derelict wet grassland into an oasis for both wildlife and the people in the local area.
Conor McKinney, Living Landscapes Manager with the Ulster Wildlife Trust said: “ It promises to be a great opportunity to get to know more about this popular spot and hopefully get to spot an array of wildlife like dragonflies, damselflies, swifts, swallows and herons!”

Music at North Down museum
At 8pm tomorrow evening (Thursday July 28), North Down Arts presents the full line up of Bangor band Farriers for the first time.
A little bit of alt-country, a little bit of bluegrass and a little bit of folk combine in songs full of spirit with fabulous harmonies. Add in a little bit of handclapping and foot stomping and we guarantee you an excellent night with one of Northern Ireland's up and coming bands.

North Down ulster scots bus tour
It's coastline, Abbeys and monuments that tell the tale of the region’s deep connection with Scotland and the Ulster Scots story. The tour takes in Newtownards and North Down, the birthplace of Ulster Scots.

Cockle Row cottages
The Laganvale Silver Band will be stopping at the Cottages this Saturday July 30 from 2-4pm to perform traditional seaside nostalgic music.

This Sunday July 31 at Ward Park Bandstand in Bangor from 3-5pm the live music feature is the Chet Baker Show.

Still remember the king?
It's 34 years to the day since the King of Rock and Roll ‘left the building’ and so the Elvis Presley fan club of Northern Ireland will be hosting an anniversary disco in his honour at the Clandeboye Golf Club on August 19.
There will be live entertainment as well as a ballot and auction in aid of their chosen charity for 2011 — Assisi Animal Sanctuary in Conlig.
All this for just £5 to non members - join for just £12 per year which includes 4 full colour magazines and reduced entry (£3) to the monthly events — held on the third Friday each month.
This Saturday and Sunday (July 30 and 31) from 3pm-5pm, at McKee Clock on the Bangor seafront, two stars of the summer entertainment programme return this weekend.
