Music in the park

Templemore brass band will be performing at Belfast Zoo this Saturday, July 3.

The event which takes place on 2pm to 3pm. is part of Belfast city council’s ‘Music in the Parks’ programme which takes place in parks across Belfast from May to September 2010.

NORTH BELFAST

Volunteers needed for youth arts festival

Children and young people from across North Belfast are welcome to participate in the week long programme of arts-based activities as part of the exciting Celebrate North Belfast Youth Arts Festival led by New Lodge Arts.

The festival taking place from August 4-11 2010 will witness has workshops where young people can develop skills in a variety of art forms from dance, drama, music and visual arts, event management and technical production. Families and the wider community are invited to support the young participants at showcases celebrating the outcomes of the activities.

Last summer 158 young people were involved in the Youth Arts Festival and over 600 audience members attended the showcase events. If you would like more information about becoming a participant, volunteer or audience member please contact New Lodge Arts, a community arts organisation based in the Greater New Lodge area of North Belfast.

The volunteer development programme is open to anyone over 16 years and relevant training and workshops are available. We welcome your skills and experience. please contact Helen Coburn on 90742255 or email helen@newlodgearts.com for further details.

Glengormley Pavillion Arts and Crafts Summer Scheme

The Glengormley Pavillion Arts and Crafts Summer Scheme is set to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays.

The Summer Scheme will run for five weeks from July 19 to August 20 from 10am to 4pm daily.

Parents can only register their own children and places will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.Children must be between eight and 14-years-old.

Sentry hill garden day

With the weather so fine, it’s a great time to come along and enjoy the Sentry Hill Garden Day taking place this Saturday July 3, from 10.30am —5.30pm.

And if you miss this one, pencil in the next Garden Day, taking place on Sunday August 8, from 1-5pm.

Sentry Hill is a 19th century farmhouse with a fascinating family history.

The house and its contents provide a rare insight into life in rural Ulster during the 19th and early 20thcenturies. Facilities include guided tours, an audio-visual presentation, exhibition room, café, gift shop and picnic area.

Admission charges (includes refreshments) Adults £4.50
