On their marks as hundreds defy deluge for Runher event
More than 1,500 big-hearted Ulster women braved the rain on Friday as they pounded the North Down coastline in the Belfast Telegraph's Runher Coastal Challenge.
The inspirational event got underway last night, and includes a choice between a 5K and 10K run.
The 5K event began at Rockport school, ending at Crawfordsburn Country Park; but it was the challenge of the 10K route from Seapark to Crawfordsburn that proved most popular.
Joining in the fun were former Miss Northern Ireland Tiffany Brien, as well as teams from Ballydrain Harriers, Ormeau Runners and Ballgalget Biggest Losers.
Among the charity teams taking part were Northern Ireland-based breast cancer charity Pretty in Pink as well as mental health charity Aware, which entered a team in the Coastal Challenge to support people in Northern Ireland affected by depression.
