Outrage as defibrillator stolen for second time
A life-saving defibrillator has been stolen from a shop in Co Londonderry for the second time.
The device was taken from a shop in Portstewart in the early hours of Sunday.
SDLP East Londonderry MLA Gerry Mullan condemned those behind the theft as "senseless criminals".
"It's difficult to imagine what could drive someone to steal a defibrillator," he said.
"This is a life-saving piece of medical equipment that is of absolutely no use to anyone who isn't suffering from a heart attack. The senseless theft of this equipment is not only a callous crime but it has put lives in danger.
"I hope those behind the theft will also realise how dangerous their behaviour is and that they'll return the equipment."
On Monday, a man was charged after a defibrillator was vandalised in east Belfast.
