Outrage as man shot four times in the leg in Londonderry
A man has been shot four times in a paramilitary-style attack in Londonderry.
The 29-year-old victim was rushed to hospital after sustaining the multiple gunshots in his right leg.
It happened at around 6pm yesterday in the Blythe Lane area of the Creggan.
SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey expressed his disgust at the attack.
"This is an horrific incident for which there can be no excuse.
"It is completely unacceptable and will be condemned by the whole community," he said.
"As our city prepares for Christmas with what should be such a happy event in our Guildhall where thousands are gathered to welcome Santa and cheer the mayor as she turns on the lights, it is terrible that the focus will also be on such human rights abusers in Creggan.
"Is this really the message we want to send out about our city?"
Police have appealed for information. The Crimestoppers number is 0800 555 111.
