Packaging firm creates 95 jobs in north west

By Donna Deeney

Almost 100 new jobs will be created in Londonderry by a US packaging company that already employs 270 people at its base there.

Bemis is creating a business services centre that will employ 95 people in its finance and IT department over the next five years.

Marty Scaminaci, Bemis' vice president of global business services, said: "We have formed a new entity, but really what we are doing is centralising all of our finance and IT operations from within Europe to this new facility here in Derry.

"We are actively looking now to fill some of our 20 to 25 key roles and we are going to expand those over a phased approach."

Mr Scaminaci said the average salary will be around £25,000.

It received £695,000 of Government support towards the expansion, £475,000 of which is from Invest NI.
