A children's nurse is to stand trial accused of child pornography offences, a judge ordered.

Belfast man Aaron Ravel (46) is charged with 22 counts of making indecent images of youngsters.

The alleged offences, covering a period from October 2013 to April 2014, are said to be connected to files discovered on a computer.

Ravel, of Cavehill Road in the city, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court for a preliminary inquiry hearing. He confirmed that he understood the charges.

District Judge Peter King granted a prosecution application to have the accused returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old Belfast man is also to go on trial accused of similar offences.

Morris Johnston, of Manor Drive in the city, appeared separately in the dock charged with 12 counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

Johnston was returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be set.
