Pain road map under construction
People suffering from chronic pain are to be given a lifeline with a new ‘road map’ being discussed today at a conference being opened by the health minister.
The action plan will outline seven policies to improve the quality of life for those living with the long-term condition and follows a major pain policy event at Stormont.
The conference follows a report which higlighted the disparity between the level of treatment for sufferers across Northern Ireland, plus a lack of formalised training among practitioners equipped to tackle the issue.
Dr Pamela Bell of the Pain Alliance of Northern Ireland said the conference was the “first step to ensuring that patients suffering from chronic pain receive optimum care and treatment”.
