Police have arrested two people over the discovery of Semtex and guns in west Belfast.

A 29-year-old man and a woman aged 21 were arrested in the west Belfast area on Sunday evening.

They have been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

The arrest comes just hours after anti-terror police detained a 45-year-old man in Sunderland.

More than half-a-kilo of Semtex was discovered along with two handguns, 200 rounds of ammunition and two detonators at a house on Ballymurphy Road on Thursday night.

A 67-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman arrested at the scene were released on Saturday evening pending a report to the PPS.
