Pair charged over fake car products

Police investigating a fake car products operation have charged a man and a woman and seized more than £1 million worth of assets.

The suspects, aged 47 and 44, were accused of counterfeiting, trademark offences and money laundering, police said.

It followed a complaint by manufacturer BMW.

PSNI detective inspector Todd Clements said: "Following a number of searches yesterday in Ballymena, Belfast and Portstewart police have secured restraining orders on assets worth more than £1 million."

The man and woman are due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates' Court next month.
