Pair sought over break-in and hijack bid in east Belfast

Police say an attempted hijacking and a break-in at a hair salon may be linked.

Police are seeking two men over an attempted hijacking and a break-in at a hair salon in east Belfast on Saturday.

Shortly before 5.45pm it was reported that two men jumped into a silver coloured jeep in the area of Connswater Retail Park and attempted to drive off in it.

The owner of the jeep and a relative managed to stop the car and the two suspects ran off in the direction of Bloomfield Avenue.

The suspects are described as being aged in their early teens, one has short cropped ginger hair and was wearing a grey coloured top and blue bottoms.

The second was wearing a grey coloured top and grey bottoms.

A short time later a hair salon on the Holywood Road was broken into and a sum of cash stolen from the till along with the keys of a blue coloured Audi TT car. 

The made off in the car which was recovered a short time later in the Kinnaird Close area of north Belfast.

Police are investigating a link between both incidents and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incidents or anyone with any information to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
