Police are investigating an attack on a man in Londonderry

Paramilitaries are being blamed for an attack on a 24-year-old man in Londonderry.

He was targeted by a gang of four men, one of whom is believed to have had a handgun, at Altcar Park in the Galliagh area of the city during the early hours of the morning.

The gang fled the scene in a small silver car.

The victim did not require hospital treatment.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101.
