Parents urged to act over padded bras for children
A parents support organisation in Northern Ireland is backing calls for 'people power' against retailers who sell inappropriate clothing for children.
The Belfast Telegraph revealed yesterday that Dunnes Stores and Primark in Belfast city centre were selling padded bras for children as young as seven, despite years of widespread criticism of the practice.
Jackie Valentine from the Parents Advice Centre (PAC) said parents should boycott the shops or else make their feelings known by a visit to the store.
She added: "Padded bras should not be aimed at children.
These items are not appropriate for young girls.
"Parents should not give in to peer pressure just because retailers have these items on sale."
