Party boy Rory McIlroy joins tartan army at Ryder Cup celebrations
It was a superb victory worthy of wild celebration.
But no one expected to see Rory McIlroy dressed up in nothing but a small kilt as part of Europe's exuberant partying after clinching the Ryder Cup.
Or Graeme McDowell to be taken home by the police.
But that's what happened when the Northern Ireland pair joined their ecstatic team-mates in celebrating Europe's convincing win over the US at Gleneagles.
In a nod to the host country, world number one golfer Rory celebrated his part in the win by donning the tartan kilt and an orange wig on Sunday night. The Holywood star posted a picture on Instagram, saying: "Got into the Scottish side of things."
Meanwhile, McDowell was also partying hard after carding some crucial points towards beating the Americans.
Posting a picture of himself and team-mate Lee Westwood with two police officers, the Portrush golfer wrote: "Not saying @WestwoodLee and myself got in any trouble last night..... #sorryofficer."
The Champagne appeared to have flowed as Europe celebrated. Players drank bubbly during a Press conference in which Westwood fell asleep and Ian Poulter lamented a bad hangover.
Meanwhile, another day, another possible love interest for golf's most eligible bachelor. The latest beautiful woman rumoured to be dating McIlroy is South African model and actress Shashi Naidoo.
The 33-year-old posed with McIlroy's family at Gleneagles in a picture posted to the champion golfer's Instagram account. But Naidoo later took to Twitter to deny rumours she was the Co Down man's new girlfriend.
