The man killed in a Co Down crash involving a tractor was Patrick Gerald Lively, police have confirmed.

Mr Lively died in the two-vehicle crash on the Bryansford Road at the junction with the Kinnahalla Road in Hilltown at around 6pm on Monday.

He was 60-years-old.

The Bryansford Road is closed and is expected to remains so for some time to allow for investigations.

Police said that diversions are via Castlewellan Road, Hilltown and are appealing for witnesses.

Lagan Valley DUP MLA Jonathan Craig said that the Hillhall Road was a notorious blackspot.

"There is a lot of damage but very few injuries because you can't go fast on it," he said. "It's a very bad road."
