Pensioner confronted by knife-wielding woman on Larne doorstep

A pensioner was left shaken after she was confronted by a knife-wielding woman on her Larne doorstep.

The woman knocked on the door of the Pound Street home and when the victim, aged in her 60s, tried to close it on the thief, she forced her way in and demanded money. The frightened victim handed over cash before the woman made off.

The incident happened around 11pm on Thursday. The woman was described as being approximately 5’ 7” tall, of slim build and was wearing jeans, a blue top and a baseball cap. The woman was not injured but left shaken by her ordeal, police said.

Detectives are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives in Larne on 101, quoting reference number 1538 of 13/04/17.
