A pensioner was injured when car hijackers forced him out of his vehicle in Londonderry.

The incident happened at about 8.30pm on Monday, when two men approached the car in the Bonds Hill area.

The male driver, believed to have been in his 70s, was assaulted and had to be taken to hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have since arrested two men aged 21 and 24 on suspicion of hijacking, grievous bodily harm with intent and other offences.
