People of Derry - have your say on which local legends you want to see on the side of a bus

People of Londonderry - which local legend would you like to see on the side of a bus?

Translink is calling for people of Derry to nominate local living legends to be celebrated and showcased on the city’s first ever Bus of Legends.

The new ‘Foyle Legends’ campaign will honour local heroes who have excelled in their industry and shine a spotlight on the wealth of talent which Derry has produced.

As it travels across the city, the Foyle Legends bus will pay tribute to two of these inspirational individuals as voted for by the public.

It follows the Metro Legends bus which was unviled in Belfast in 2016 and say actor Jamie Dornan and ruby star Rory Best triumph.

Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive, Translink said: “The city of Derry~Londonderry is home to some of the most talented men and women in Northern Ireland, and indeed the world. Ulsterbus has proudly connected people in this area for generations and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate top local talent than this unique Foyle Legends Double Decker.

“As it travels across the city, the bus will pay tribute to these inspirational individuals and remind us of the incredible wealth of local talent. Perhaps it’s a sporting hero, an acclaimed actor or a musical genius – if they inspire you, we want to hear about it."

Nominations are now open - to vote for your hero visit here

Nominations will close on March 19 - then a panel of judges will have the task of creating a shortlist for the final public vote.

Then it’s back over to the people of Derry to have their say before the big Foyle Legends Official Reveal during Bus + Train Week on Monday June 5.
