Personal Stories: The process of writing can be hard and lonely
Holywood novelist Mark Lynch is on his fourth sci-fi title
Mark Lynch (32) from Holywood is working on his fourth science fiction novel - although he has promised to take a break to get married later this year.
Mark said: "It was only when my 30th was looming that I decided to try my hand at writing a sci-fi novel. I completed the first chapter and let my fiancée Jackie read it over. She liked it. That was three years ago now, and I haven't stopped writing since.
"The process of writing fiction can be hard, gruelling, and lonely work, but I have a real passion for the craft which drives me on, and I find writing can be therapeutic. It has certainly helped me to work through some personal issues.
"I have published three novels to date. My first book is called Veritas Dawn and the story is set upon a colony moon in a far-off solar system. Book number two has been my most popular to date. The War Of Zero Sum is an alternative history novel imagining a 1960s Ireland divided between the Cold War superpowers, with an uneasy alliance between loyalists and republicans fighting a resistance against Soviet occupation forces. My third was American Nemesis, and is set in a near future America on the brink of a new civil war.
"In terms of what's next for me, I'm currently working on the sequel to Zero Sum, and I hope to have a manuscript ready by July. After this, I have a few more ideas up my sleeve, but I'll have to take a break in November time, as I'm getting married."
Mark's books are available through Amazon and Kindle.
