A petrol bomb was thrown into a car in east Belfast overnight.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack on a car in St Leonards Crescent, off the Newtownards Road.

It happened shortly after 2.15am on Thursday.

The rear window of the parked car had been smashed before the petrol bomb was thrown inside.

Damage was caused to the interior of the car as a result.

Inspector John Murray is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact police at Strandtown Police Station on the non-emergency number, 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
