Pipe bomb found near youth centre in north Belfast
A pipe bomb discovered next to a youth centre in north Belfast has been described as "disturbing" for local residents.
The suspect object was discovered on Lepper Street in the New Lodge area of the city just after noon yesterday. The pipe bomb was later classed by police as a "crude but viable pipe bomb device".
The dangerous object was taken away for further forensic examination and the surrounding roads were reopened. A spokeswoman from the New Lodge Youth Centre was shocked to hear about the bomb so close to her workplace.
"It is really disturbing," she said.
"We're trying to provide positive activities for children and young people here so it's disturbing that something that could be so dangerous was close by."
