Pipe bomb placed in man's car after he had gone to work
A pipe bomb has been recovered from a man's car in Co Tyrone following a large scale security operation.
It is understood the man discovered that the window of his car had been broken and the viable device left inside after he left to go to work in Dungannon yesterday.
A number of houses in the Fairmount Park area of the town were evacuated as Army bomb disposal experts investigated the scene.
The device was taken away for further examination while residents were allowed to return to their homes by 7.30pm.
Councillor Denise Mullen condemned the attack. "It's a disgrace that a man going about his everyday business has been targeted in this way," she said.
Inspector Robert McGowan said: "I would like to thank residents and the local business community for their patience.
"I would also appeal to anyone who knows anything about this incident or anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact us."
