A pipe bomb has been thrown at a house in east Belfast.

The viable device was flung into the garden of a house in the Island Street area around 3.40am. Two suspects made off on a motorcycle.

A red Kawasaki motorcycle believed to have been involved was later recovered by police in the Clandeboye Street area just off Castlereagh Street.

Officers are also investigating whether a single vehicle road crash on the Beersbridge Road shortly before 5am involving a red coloured Honda Civic was also linked to the incident.
