Poetry pays off for schoolboy Tim

A Holywood schoolboy has won £3,000 in a poetry competition run by Oxford University’s Christ College.

Tim Carson, a Year 14 pupil at Sullivan Upper School, beat over 1,200 other entrants to win the prestigious Christopher Tower Poetry Competition.

This year’s competition centred around the theme of doubt, and Tim’s poem, ‘Is Life Likely?’, won over the judges to scoop the prize.

Tim is a keen writer and is no stranger to receiving recognition for his writing having already won a trip to Chicago last year in an essay writing competition.
