Police have appealed for the public's help after a life-saving defibrillator was stolen from a petrol station.

The machine, which is worth £1500, was stolen from Rosevale Petrol Station in Newtownards in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police posted a message about the theft on the PSNI Ards Facebook page.

"Can you help us solve this disgraceful crime??? An unknown young male has stolen a vital lifesaving defib from the Rosevale Petrol Station, Ards," the post said.

"This occurred sometime In the early hours of this morning. This machine is valued at £1500 and really can mean the difference between life and death.

"Is this one of your friends who thought he was just having a laugh?"
