Up to four masked men confronted a resident in Belfast city centre late on Sunday night.

The PSNI has issued an appeal for information about the incident in the College Square North area which left the victim shaken.

Shortly after 11pm, it was reported that a group of men forced their way in to premises and briefly confronted the resident before leaving again.

It is believed four men were involved, all of whom wore masks.

Some were carrying weapons, including a baseball bat and a knife. The resident was not injured.

Police are describing the incident as an "aggravated burglary".

Detective Sergeant Mason, from Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime, said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish a motive for this incident. I would appeal to anyone who either witnessed these men in the area, or who can provide information as to their identities, to contact detectives at Musgrave Street."
