Police appeal after 'suspicious approach' of 10-year-old girl in east Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to "coax" a 10-year-old girl in to a car.
The "suspicious approach" happened in the Calvin Street area of east Belfast at around 3.30pm on Monday November 10.
The young girl then ran to safety where an adult contacted the police.
Chief Inspector David Moore said: “The young girl was walking along the footpath, when a male who is described as dark skinned and approximately 20-30 years old, attempted to coax her into a vehicle.
"The girl ran to a place of safety, advised an adult of the incident and they in turn contacted police.
"It is believed that the vehicle was a large blue car with a dark interior, with red stitching. The car was last seen in the Beersbridge Road area.
"Police conducted searches of the surrounding area and circulated details of the vehicle. Indeed, a specialised police vehicle with automatic number plate recognition was deployed in the area to assist with the investigation. "
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have been in the area at the time to contact police on 101.
