A man has been beaten and shot it the leg in Co Tyrone.

He had been missing since 3pm on Tuesday but returned to his home in the Clonabay area of Coalisland on Wednesday morning with injuries including a gunshot wound.

PSNI Inspector Will Tate said: "At around 8.30am on Wednesday we received a report from Coalisland that a man had been assaulted and shot in the leg.

"The exact circumstances of the incident are unclear at present and we are keen to hear from anyone with information that could assist the police investigation."
