Police are appealing for information after a man in his 50s was hit by a car in Co Antrim.

He is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The accident, involving a grey Vauxhall Astra, happened on the Burn Road near Doagh at about 12.15am.

The road was closed while police carried out an investigation but has since been re-opened.

Police Service of Northern Ireland Sergeant Gail McCormick said: "I would ask anyone who may have seen this man walking in the area, or who may have witnessed this rtc (road traffic collision) involving a grey Vauxhall Astra, to contact Antrim police station on the non emergency number 101."
