Police are trying to establish what happened to a man found lying on a street in north Belfast with serious head injuries.

The man, 53 was found in the Premier Drive area about 2.30am on Saturday.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: "We have established the man's identity but it is not yet known how he sustained his injuries."

She said officers believe the man left a bar in the Shore Road area at about 1.20am. "We are keen to trace his movements prior to being found in Premier Drive around an hour later," she said.

Police asked anyone who saw a man with dark hair, of heavy build and wearing dark trousers and a dark top in Premier Drive or nearby in the early hours of Saturday to contact them.
