A suspected gun has been seized by detectives investigating dissident republican activity.

It was found during an operation by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) serious crime branch in Strabane, Co Tyrone, last night.

The suspected weapon, which has been removed for forensic examination, was found during searches in the Melvin Road and Ballycolman estate area.

The operation ended shortly after 2am.
