Police hit back over flags row
The PSNI has hit back after TUV leader Jim Allister criticised it for failing to bring forward any prosecution after Irish flags were flown on the roof of Stormont in June.
On the eve of his party's annual conference Mr Allister said he was disappointed "but not surprised" over the police failure to identify culprits and warned it would deepen loyalist distrust of the PSNI.
But PSNI chief Superintendent Nigel Grimshaw responded: "This investigation was treated like any other - a full investigation was carried out until it was deemed that all lines of enquiry had been exhausted."
Unionists were outraged when the Irish flags were hoisted over Parliament Buildings during construction work.
