Police hunt after attempted robbery

Police are hunting three men following an attempted robbery in Newry.

The incident occurred in the Old Dublin Road area at around 4.30pm on Saturday.

Two men tried to rob an envelope containing cash from a man as he left a bureau de change.

The man suffered minor head injuries, although he did not require hospital treatment.

The suspects fled the scene empty-handed in a silver Mazda 626, with a third man already in the car.

One of the men was described as around 30 years old, of stocky build and wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a royal blue top and a baseball cap.

Another was thought to be in his mid to late 20s, of slim build and wearing a checked shirt.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
