Revellers have escaped injury after a shot was fired in a Co Down pub.

Two masked men, one armed with a gun, entered the bar on Main Street, Newcastle, just before 9.30pm last night. As they left, they fired a shot.

There were no reports of any injuries.

A spokeswoman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the men had entered the premises through a back door and appealed for anyone with information to come forward to CID at Downpatrick.
