Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Bushmills.

It's thought the man was in his 40s and was originally from Scotland but had been living and working in Co Antrim.

He collapsed in a house in the Woodvale area and was rushed to hospital on Sunday where he later died.

There was shock in Bushmills as news of the death spread.

North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey expressed his sympathy.

He said: “It is a very sad time for those who knew him and of course his family, who are now mourning his loss.

"I express my deepest sympathies to the man's family. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this very sad time.

A PSNI spokesman said police are investigating the sudden death and a post-mortem is to be carried out to determine the cause.
