A number of missiles have been thrown at the loyalist protest camp in north Belfast.

Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

It happened just before 11.30pm on Monday night where a number of males were reported to be throwing missiles.

The camp was set up in 2013 after a Parades Commission decision stopped an Orange Order parade from taking place on a stretch of the adjoining Crumlin Road which separates unionist and nationalist areas.

Inspector McCullough said: “Police received the report which is being treated as a hate crime.

"I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police at Tennant Street on the non emergency number 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
