Police have returned to the scene of an attempted bomb attack at a Londonderry hotel which had been scheduled to host a PSNI recruitment event.

A device was planted in the grounds of the Waterfoot Hotel last month.

It had been due to host a recruitment event for the PSNI.

Following the incident the event was later rescheduled for another venue.

Police investigating the attack returned to the scene to gather additional information.

Detectives were in the area last night and spoke to passing motorists and pedestrians.

Detective Superintendent Karen Baxter from Serious Crime Branch appealed to anyone with information about the device or who noticed suspicious activity in the area in the days leading up to its discovery on October 9 to contact detectives at Mahon Road on the non-emergency number 101 extension 37423 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
