Police step up hunt for criminal who was wrongly released from custody
Police have widened their hunt for a violent prisoner who was released in error by the Prison Service last month.
West Belfast man Sean Gerard Cahill has been on the run after he was wrongly released following an appearance at Lisburn Magistrates Court on November 24.
Cahill, who is the third prisoner to be released from prison in error within the space of two months, had been sentenced to one month imprisonment on a charge of aggravated vehicle taking. He was also facing charges of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
The PSNI said yesterday they are still actively seeking Cahill and have asked anyone with information regarding the criminal’s whereabouts to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
Cahill is described as being 5ft 4ins in height and of medium build, with brown hair and a fresh complexion.
