Police to quiz Gerry Kelly over jeep row
Sinn Fein's Gerry Kelly will be questioned by police today about his altercation with officers which led to him being carried on the front of a PSNI Land Rover.
The North Belfast MLA and Policing Board member was due to attend Antrim Road police station with his solicitor yesterday but the meeting was postponed until today.
Last night, insisting he'd done nothing wrong, he said: "I was not there as a Policing Board member. I was clearly there as an MLA to represent my constituency."
The incident happened in Carrick Hill following the Tour of the North parade on June 21.
Police previously confirmed a file on the incident would be sent to the Public Prosecution Service.
First Minister Peter Robinson strongly criticised Mr Kelly's "reckless" behaviour.
SDLP MLA Alban Maginness, who witnessed the incident, criticised the police handling of the situation. "It was inappropriate for the vehicle to drive off in the way that it did," he said.
