Police use Taser to restrain youth

Police have used a Taser gun to restrain a youth in Belfast.

Five youths were arrested in the incident in the north of the city and a police officer suffered face and hand injuries.

Officers investigating suspected criminal damage to a car attended a property in the Alexander Park Avenue area this evening after receiving reports that youths armed with iron bars and knives were inside.

A PSNI spokesman said an officer was attacked and injured after the youths were ordered to put down the weapons.

The Taser was deployed to restrain one of the youths at the property.

The Police Ombudsman has been informed.
