Policeman's face slashed with knife

A policeman suffered facial injuries when he was slashed with a Stanley-type knife as he attended a call-out in north Belfast.

After the incident in the Crumlin Road area, the officer was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police had been attending the report of an assault in the area when the officer was injured.
