Politics takes a back seat as Mervyn Storey walks daughter down aisle
Senior DUP figures gathered yesterday to celebrate the wedding of Lydia Storey - daughter of former Stormont minister Mervyn Storey - who married fiance Ryan Moore at a ceremony at Hebron Free Presbyterian Church in Ballymoney.
MPs Ian Paisley Jr and David Simpson were among the guests at the ceremony.
Speaking from the reception at the swanky Radisson Roe hotel, proud father of the bride Mr Storey said First Minister Arlene Foster was unable to attend because of the British-Irish Council meeting in Cardiff.
"But she sent a lovely card and a lovely gift for Lydia and Ryan, which they very much appreciated," he added.
The MLA also revealed that the happy couple had managed to keep at least one thing secret from him - their honeymoon destination.
Former Finance and Personnel Minister Mr Storey said: "It's a cruise, but I don't know where to. But I'm not paying for it, so I don't mind."
