Christmas decorations in the house before December splits opinion everywhere - but Stephen Nolan has joined those getting in the festive cheer early by putting his tree up.

The BBC presenter took to social media to share photos of his efforts.

He said: "Getting my Xmas tree up today at Fantasy Island. I'm like a child - it's the most exciting part of my day."

The broadcaster has even set his sights on a "giant snowman" and lights for outside his home.

Ballymena once again became the first town in Northern Ireland to erect its Christmas tree.

The north Antrim town had theirs up before Halloween even hit - some 65 days ahead of Christmas Day.

Ballymena is usually one of the first locations in Northern Ireland to put up its festive tree.

Meanwhile Christmas arrived in Belfast on Saturday night as the lights were turned on - heralding the arrival of the popular Christmas Market at City Hall.
