Portadown bomb scare nothing untoward: PSNI
Police have said an object which sparked a security alert in Portadown was "nothing untoward".
Upper Church Lane in the Co Armagh town was closed following the discovery of the suspicious object.
Police sources had said the object was a pipe bomb and that the target was a police officer.
However, following examination it has been determined the object was of nothing untoward meaning there was no threat or implied threat behind the discovery.
Meanwhile, patients, visitors and staff at Craigavon Area Hospital were advised to allow extra time for their journeys due to the security alert.
The Southern Trust has advised anyone travelling to the hospital to allow extra time for their journeys.
