An investigation into how a catamaran belonging to the Loughs Agency sank in the River Foyle has begun.

The 55ft vessel was discovered yesterday morning.

John Pollock, chief executive at Loughs Agency, said: "After 8am this morning the Loughs Agency was made aware that our vessel the MMV Ostrea was partially submerged at the Foyle Marina.

"All the relevant agencies have been informed and we are working with the appropriate specialists to investigate the cause and to float the vessel.

"Thankfully, there were no crew on board. We will be completing a thorough investigation to determine how this happened."
