No reason has been given as to how a police vehicle overturned on the Glenshane Road, and an investigation is continuing.

Five police officers were in the Land Rover when it crashed near Claudy at 7.30am on Tuesday.

All of the officers were taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry. Four were discharged later, with one officer being kept in overnight.

Inspector Johnny Hunter thanked passing motorists.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the public who assisted at the scene of a collision on the Glenshane Road at Claudy this morning. We are currently carrying out enquiries as to how this incident occurred, but in the meantime both myself and the officers involved would like to express our gratitude to the many people who were at the scene and gave assistance.
